Become A Museum Docent
A docent is a well-trained volunteer who guides visitors through museum exhibitions. They are guides, teachers, art enthusiasts, and a link between the public and the museum. Docents prepare and present tours to groups from schools and the community, and lead public tours. They enrich the visitor's museum experience, engage their interest, and develop art appreciation in the audience.
A docent has a very important and highly valued role at the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University, helping visitors discover art in a new and exciting way. The Castellani Art Museum has approximately 5,500 works of art in its collection, including prints, photographs, paintings, drawings, and sculpture -- dating largely from the 1850s to the present. The museum has a compelling folk arts program as well.
The museum asks its docents for a commitment of time and effort, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude. In return, we offer:
