Program Description

This free, self-guided driving tour explores the cultural heritage of Niagara County at five sites throughout the region, taking you from the cascading waters of Niagara Falls to the shores of Lake Ontario. Each stop consists of excerpts from audio interviews with community members and local artists, fieldwork photos, and historic photos and artworks from regional collections including the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University, local historical societies, and libraries in the NIOGA system.

Hosted on the Travelstorys platform, this tour is part of the New York Back Story tours developed by folklorists and cultural ethnographers working across the state, organized and spearheaded by Long Island Traditions.

This tour is presented by the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University as part of the New York Back Story tours organized by Long Island Traditions, and made possible in part by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts and the Robert D. L. Gardiner Foundation.
