The Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University values volunteers!

Whether you have a little time or a lot, the museum could use your help. You’ll find a friendly, welcoming atmosphere where volunteers are part of the Castellani Art Museum family. You don’t need an advanced degree in art history, but don’t be surprised if you end up learning a lot about art. Read below to see some of the roles volunteers play at the Castellani Art Museum:

Museum Shop

Our museum shop offers a wide variety of handmade gifts from around the world, art books, cards, posters and children’s items.  Our museum shop manager will train you in how to run the cash register and serve customers.

Children’s Art Activities

Help children with art projects that are linked to the museum’s exhibitions and permanent collection.  The museum offers art workshops for children on Saturdays, as well as our popular kids ‘n arts camp during the summer. We also have art activities for children at some of our special events. If you like working with children, this one’s for you.

Visitor Services

Be a volunteer receptionist, greeting visitors at the reception desk, answering questions and taking phone calls.  This is the ideal volunteer role for a real “people person” with a sunny personality. We are especially looking for people who can commit to a few hours the same time and day each week.

Community Outreach

Volunteers are needed to help spread the word about the Castellani Art Museum to the community.  Tasks include manning information tables at community events, distributing flyers to local schools and more.  If you really like to get “out and about,” give us a call.

Museum Docent

Museum docents are community members who serve on a volunteer basis and provide tours of the museum's collections and special exhibitions to visiting groups of all ages, ranging from first graders to adults. Docents meet with the Castellani curators on a monthly basis to learn about special exhibitions and tour opportunities. New docents “shadow” those with more experience before they lead tours on their own.

Special Events

We are forming a new committee to help  plan our events such as Mixers at the CAM, educational lecture series and other public receptions.  Are you a great party planner? We need people to solicit donations and put together basket raffles, as well helping with publicity and promotion, decorations and helping out at the event itself.
